Filmed mainly from a helicopter, this documentary affords a unique insight into the world’s largest bitumen mining plant in Canada’s Tar Sands. The impact of extracting the bitumen deposit, which is as large as England, has wiped out a forest and had a devastating effect on the environment. The director, who had gone to Alberta to film a wildlife documentary, decided to capture this staggering footage for Greenpeace in order to denounce an industrial, economic and energy project where the power of oil is wielding destruction over air, water and land.
