The Ural Mountains, stone monuments shrouded in mystery, mark the border between Europe and Asia. The foothills of this mountain chain, which stretch for more than 2000 kilometres from the coast of the Arctic Ocean to Kazakhstan, are adorned with conifer forests that mingle gently with the surrounding steppes. Hungry wolves roam the forests in search of prey, wary of the large, lone bear. Here majestic moose manage to find food, even when the bear is stomach-deep in snow. In addition to capturing the unspoilt beauty of the area, this wildlife documentary reveals, for the first time, the migration of the moose, which swim the wide lakes in mid-winter in search of new lands where they can forage for food.
