Recorded history is short, but the earth’s memory is longer, including all traces left on soil by human life. Markku Lehmuskallio and Anastasia Lapsui's film essay is a balanced interpretation, a wide, ten-thousand-year arc of the history of habitation in Finland. Beginning from the culture of Suomusjärvi, the film covers encounters and conflicts between people settling in Finland, their livelihood and dependency on what the land and waters have to offer.
