The Finnish lumberjack culture is romantically depicted in this moving classic based on the book by Johannes Linnankoski. Amidst this milieu, a young scoundrel is forced to face up to his social and sexual responsibilities. Teuvo Tulio’s oldest surviving film, Scarlet Flower employs radiant cinematography that imbues the log-rolling scenes with staggering beauty.
