Around 1900, 70% of Romania was covered by forest; in 2010 this figure was barely 16%. It is set to drop further as permissive legislation means that the forests are heavily exploited, much of the time illegally. Ion Asaftei is a young man from the village of Grinties who is ready to tell us about both the legal and illegal timber trade. But how much information can he afford to give away? The deforestation and timber trade are run by organised crime, and Ion is treading an extremely fine, if not dangerous, line.

She graduated in film direction and made five short documentaries for RAI 1, within the context of the Central Express project. She has just terminated two creative documentaries regarding environmental questions in Romania, including "Wheel and deal". Again for the Romanian market, she made two documentaries about pregnancy and birth and has made commercials and short films.
