Fausto De Stefani was the sixth mountaineer in the world to climb all the eight-thousanders and he has always been involved in volunteer work. He is indeed responsible for devising and promoting the project “A school in Nepal - Rarahil Memorial School”, currently attended by 730 pupils. In October 2012 two new buildings were inaugurated next to the school: a doctor’s surgery dedicated to the mountaineer Giuliano De Marchi and an artisan workshop: further proof of generosity and intelligent commitment in favour of the weak, also made possible thanks to the support of many people who believe in De Stefani’s project in Italy.
Born in Trento in 1954, he loves the mountains and is a keen sportsman in disciplines such as climbing, canoeing, skiing and gliding. His film-making activities began many years ago, concentrating particularly on documentaries. For many years he worked at the regional headquarters of the RAI as a journalist and cameraman. In the last few years he has also been involved in volunteer work, often following Fausto De Stefani in his journeys to Nepal.
