Beklemek follows the life of Siddik, a 42 year old father, desperately looking for his children under the debris of their collapsed house after the earthquake in East-Turkey 2011. Meanwhile two slum children Eso and Atilla (13) look for iron in the ruins, treasures that will bring them prospects to gain money and survive. The film is an intimate glimpse in the inner struggle of Siddik coping with the after effects of the earthquake but most of all a socioeconomic journey through the harsh life in Eastern Turkey.
Director
Bülent Öztürk
Born in 1975 in a small Turkish village, he moved to Belgium in 1995. In 2011 he took a master’s degree course in direction and audiovisual arts at the prestigious Rits Film School in Brussels. During his studies he made numerous short films and the documentary “Time Time, Talking Stones of Bakacaik". He is currently working on his first fiction film “Blue Silence”, which will be presented to the public in October 2013.
