In China’s mountainous Sichuan Province, the giant magnitude 7.9 earthquake in 2008 killed 90.000 people, left 374.000 injured and 5 million homeless. Filmed over several years, this moving film picks up the stories of three survivors. Mr. Peng, a devoted father, lost his daughter in the rubble. Divorcee Mrs. Li, now only lives for her paralysed mother and her job. 14 year-old Hong lost his father. Meanwhile, a New City is being built far away by the authorities - a city that is supposed to offer the survivors a chance at better lives. But they remain torn between life as it was and modernity.
