A case of adultery in a small community in Turkish Kurdistan sparks off a pitiless mechanism of punishment and compensation, orchestrated by the two families involved: it is always and inevitably the women who pay the price, treated like objects to be exchanged. A handful of words and a few carefully chosen frames are sufficient for Bülent Öztürk to reconstruct an episode in the childhood of his mother and draw a portrait in which the beauty of the landscape contrasts violently with the cruelty of tradition.
