The Sinai desert still plays host to a multitude of small orchards, cultivated with great effort on the stony ground. Set against the background of an Egypt in the process of revolt, Bryony Dunne travelled to the Sinai region to document the populations that live there from the inside and carry out a photographic service on the custodians of these orchards. Following the meeting with Amariya, the only woman in the region who dedicates her full-time attention to caring for the orchards and Ahmad, the last custodian of the knowledge of desert doctors, the original photographic documentation project was transformed.
