A city in the north of Chile succumbs to the advancing desert: it seems strangely desolate, almost as if all the inhabitants had suddenly gone away in the middle of an ordinary day. The short film is part of a series of seven brief documentaries commissioned by the Consejo Nacional de la Cultura y las Artes de Chile (CNCA) for the Biennale of Architecture in Venice.
Born in Oxford in 1974, he studied at the Architectural Association in London, to then begin his artistic career as a photographer of architecture and landscapes. His work has been published by Monocle, Wire, The New York Times, Domus and the Architectural Digest. Since 2008 he has lived and worked in Santiago, where he founded Estudio Palma.
