Cowbells infringe on the pattering of the rain in the woods: a small herd follows the seasonal migration route down into the valley, heading for a livestock fair. A final stop-off near a closed chairlift, which may never open because once again there may not be enough snow this year. The mountains are not the same as they used to be. Gabriele Cantadore, an artist from Val Vigezzo, or “painters’ valley” knows this well. As a boy, when school finished, he left for the alpine pastures. His passion for the local area is today expressed through his art.
