It is July. Before us is the lunar landscape of Montiferru, Sardinia, after a wildfire. Everything is black, nature appears to have been compromised, while the people meeting up in the midst of the ancient olive groves and burnt woods look like ghosts. And yet in the midst of all this desolation one can hear the unexpected chirping of cicadas. For a year the film followed the seasons after the fire, heard the songs and listened to the voices with a small film crew, observing the miracle of nature’s rebirth after the tragedy.
