HOW MAN IS CHANGING ANIMALS

Con Luca Roner (erpetologo, Muse), Chiara Bettega (ornitologa e scrittrice, Muse), Francesca Roseo (zoologa, Muse)

Humans are indisputably the key factor in the climate changes underway, changes also resulting in countless cascade effects on the animal world. Without the cold of winter, ticks do not go into dormancy and remain active, becoming more voracious and ravenous when searching for ''hosts'' on whom to feed when the warm weather begins again. Mosquitoes strike at higher and higher altitudes, and some once ''exotic'' specimens now also survive at our latitude. Then there is active behaviour, modified by animals due directly to the actions of man: in Abruzzo National Park, foxes are at risk of being hit by cars because too many tourists leave them food at the roadside. How humans are changing the life and behaviour of wildlife without even being aware of it.
