NON C'È PIÙ ACQUA PER PIANGERE: MONTAGNA E PIANURA, DUE FACCE DELLA STESSA SICCITÀ

Con Roberta Silva (presidente Associazione Gestori Rifugi del Trentino), Luca Ferraris (presidente Fondazione CIMA), Giacomo Poletti (metereologo).

Last year was a record year for high temperatures and drought, while the first few months of 2023 look no more promising. In Trentino, February was completely dry, with an average temperature of 7°C, 2.8° higher than average, whereas one has to go back to 1959 to find zero millimetres of rain in a month. Water has become an increasingly rare and more precious resource, and with the increase in temperature demand has increased exponentially both in the agricultural and residential sectors. While the valley floor asks the high lands to open the taps, supplies are already a problem in the mountains due to a lack of water reserves linked to snow (in February 2023, 69% lower compared to the average in the last 12 years). Is a ''water war’ between alpine regions and the plains inevitable? What must we do to conserve this resource in the years to come? What sacrifices are necessary?
