REINVENTING WINTER. SKIING IN THE FUTURE
Skiing is the core business of winter tourism, representing the main driving force for the economy in certain areas, but global warming and ever-increasing problems linked to lack of precipitation are forcing everyone to change course. According to the forecasts, by 2036 it will already have become very difficult to ski in iconic places in the Dolomites such as Cortina, while artificial snow (last season over 90% of our lifts relied on snow from cannons) and infrastructure such as lift systems mean skiing is increasingly destined to be a sport for the rich, with a high impact on the environment. What is to be done? Is it possible to reinvent winter by changing the model, or is skiing still the only alternative?
