There is a widespread image running through the history of ideas: climbing a mountain, overcoming all the difficulties to arrive at the top, and once there, being able to see the world “as it really is”; arriving at the truth, not just shadows or reflections. It is a very attractive concept. But is it really like that? When observing the world from above one can often see nothing excepts clouds and mist covering everything, or a landscape that changes depending on the time of day or the weather. So what is this world really like? What is the truth? Does the truth really exist? Is the truth a destination to be reached and that’s it, or is it rather a cold and inhospitable path that must be continuously followed?
