Lake Tovel, a long-term research site, is a sentry for climate change in Trentino. In the 1990s, its deep waters often stank of sulphur due to the lack of oxygen, resulting from the fact that the deep waters did not mix with the surface waters. Following climate change, the waters now no longer smell; why is this and what does it mean?
