The extraordinary tale of the journey of a cello made of ice that plays as if by magic. Crafted by American artist Tim Linhart using the water of Presena Glacier - located in Trentino (Italy) at 2,800 m above s.l. -, the cello crosses the Italian peninsula in a refrigerated van that keeps it at a constant temperature below zero. The trip is not without complications. The final goal is to reach the city of Palermo, on the other end of the peninsula, in order to play at Politeama Theatre together with the Orchestra Sinfonica Siciliana for the world first of the original score for ice-cello and strings orchestra by Palermitan composer and cellist Giovanni Sollima. The narrative naturally follows the pace of this “on the road” trip, including all the accidents and obstacles that
punctuated its path, but also all the unconventional and creative solutions that were adopted in order to reach the final destination.
