More than a century ago, in 1895, Alfred Mummery attempted to ascend Nanga Parbat. The first ascent in 1953 was made by Hermann Buhl. Alex Txikon together with Ali Sadpara and Simone Moro managed to reach the top of Nanga Parbat in 2016 in winter, marking a milestone in mountaineering history.
