In the summer of 1959, eight Roman mountaineers, following an unusual route along the high valleys of Pakistan, made an expedition to the Hindu Kush, the imposing group of mountains, with three parallel ranges, that stretches northwest of the Himalayas, between Afghanistan and Kashmir.
After distressing vicissitudes, mainly due to the defection of a very large proportion of the porters, four men of the expedition arrived, on August 24, on the inviolate summit of Saraghrar - Peak, 7349 meters high.
