LA MANO SUL FUCILE
Luigi Turolla
Italy / 1962 / 90'
This feature film, shot in the mountains of Valtellina, depicts the behavior of a small partisan formation, isolated from the main fighting, and facing off against a fascist formation of equal numerical strength. A fierce battle for survival erupts between the two groups. The film's dominant theme, based on a story by writer Giancarlo Fusco, is this phrase that could easily sum up the significance of Luigi Turolla's work: "...at three hundred meters an enemy is a target, while at five meters he's a man."
