During the middle ages the English brought tea to the western world from the far East. The biggest plantations are in North India, Nepal and Sikkin. Two mountain populations, the Daflas and the Apatanis, live near the Tibet-Chinese border in northern Assamand twice a year they come down to the valley to exchange wool for tea. Tea plantations also exist near Kangchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world: the tea is gathered by Nepalese girls and processed in factories nearby.
