This is the account of three expeditions carried out in Makalu by Romolo Nottaris. In 1980 he made the first attempt of the southern ridge in winter and in 1982 the first port-monsoon climb of the western buttress. In 1984 he opened a new climb of the western face in solo. The recollections in the film cover mountaineering aspects and the personal considerations of Patrizia Barbuini who took part in the first two expeditions.
