This documentary narrates the epic poem of the Walsers, an ancient population of German origin that between, the 11th and 15th centuries appropriated a vast area in the central Alps now devided by Switzerland, Austria and Italy. In Italy the appropriation involved the valleys at the foot of Monte Rosa, in Austria part of the Tyrol and Voralberg and even Liechtenstein, and in Switzerland Val Formazza, Bosco Gurin, part of the Grigons and Vallese. A "Walser" visits the place colonized by his forefathers, tells the story and tries to answer some of the many questions still surrounding this population.
