The "Basile", a small 14 metre long steel sailing boat with a mobile keel, arried a small expedition of seven mountaineer-navigators and Inuk, a sledge dog, beyond the antarctic pole circle. Their destination was Antarctica, tha is the most majestic and spectacular part of the ice continent where the mountains rise out of the sea. In a votage over 1500 km between the coast and the islands, the crew was able to make contact with the particular flora and fauna of the sub-continent, to climb unknown peaks and icebergs and to meet other sea adventures.
