In autumn 1986, whilst Reinhold Messner successfully concluded his "race" to be the first man in the world to conquer the 14 eight thousandersm a Pole, the great and persevering Jerzy Kukuczka climbed Manaslu with his companions. After a month's stay in Poland he returned to the Himalaya for the first winter ascent of Annapurna. THe documentary is chiefly about this climb.
