The film recalls the brillant career of the Genevan mountaineer Andre Roch, one of the most represantatives of the history of Swiss alpinism. Born in 1906, he rapidly became one of the best climbers of his generation and managed to combine his profession as a civil engineer with his passion for the mountains. In the United States he helped to launch the Aspen winter resort. He was a mountaineering instructor for the Swiss army and one of the greatest experts of snow and avalanches for which he was known throughout the world.
