Helene, a young Parisienne, achieves her dream to attend a course in winter mountaineering in Scotland, on the north face of Ben Nevis. She writes to a friend in Paris every day giving her impressions as a novice in the highest mountain of Great Britain. The exercises mostly take place on the ice and the film shows Helene concentrating on the climb and describes the effort and satisfaction involved in overcoming the difficulties.
