The film is set up completely ironically , with almost mystic scenes of sexuality alternated by the seach for human contacts. An AMerican journalist wanders around the Austrian Alps in search for her abominable snowman, a metaphor for her career and the achievement of her dreams and something to give a meaning to her life. She realizes however, that her search is not taken seriously. The people in this imaginery mountain village pay no attention to her and are not distracted from their daily habits that are often ridiculously trival. A sexual experience with a lonely motcyclist cures the journalist of her blind and desperate search and convinces her to return to America where her husband and children are waiting for her.
