This documentary narrates the history of the sledge, its daily use in the mountains in the past and its transformations into the sport of tobogganing on natural pistes, the poor relation of the Olympic discipline on artificial pistes. The traditional one-seated sledge, once a humble means of transport, then a nice object for amusement, became the instrument of sports competitions for the first time in Swiss winter resorts around the year 1880. The video illustartes the features and techniques of the seldge and the development of this sport which is the modern expression of one of the oldest amusements of mountain people.
