About forty km from Verona, on the southern spur of the Alps, stands the village of Giazza where the last representatives of a German culture and language, going back to the 13th century, live. They are the last "Cimbri". The development of communication, mass media and idustrialization have made nearly all this small minority disappear. Only the old men and women have remained and are now considered the symbol of what has been lost and can never be recovered.
