The masses of the hikers who crowd the mountains to enjoy their free time are causing more and more damage to the environment. Among this is the destruction of alpine flora caused by the so-called shortcuts, off the beaten track, where the humus is so badly disturbed by people continually treading on it that the vegetation disappears. The film illustrates the cause and effect and then suggest some practical ways to restore the land.
