In Toronto, Canada, a girl born perfeclty normal develops a serious mental conditions as she grows up. The diagnosis is the Rett syndrome, a new illness which affects girls only, the cause and cure of which in unknown. The prognosis is premture death. It is a tragic mountain of medical ignorance which her father refuses to accept. He fights it by trying to conquer another mountain, Everest, and with this climbing expedition to draw the attention of the world to the problem of the girl in Toronto. The expedition leaves full of hope. The film describes the various stages leading to the dramatic events in which the cruelty of nature and the mountain force the expedition to give up before reaching the summit. They did everything they could, they gave everything they had. Will they-the film asks-have achieved their goal?
