A city with about one hundred thousand inhabitants in northern Italy. A city close to what for a long time has been, and in some ways still is, a physical and cultural border. A socially and economically advanced structure. Today, at the end of the Nineties, the landscape surrounding us is an image of apparent peace,. The slightly rippled surface of a lake, something waiting. In my video on Trento, made in the attempt to focus on this state of peacefulness, I have tried to let flow different points of view, through several interviews, without creating a rigid scheme of issues or questions. It is almost as if I wished that words could achieve the same energy level of the images, acting as reflective objects capable of creating resonance and allusions, rather than of defining or explaining. I imagined I was looking at the city during a walk, something you don’t really see, houses and streets which flow past together with one’s thoughts.
