The posters of the alps and then of the Pyrenees brought business to the mountains. At the end of the 19th century coloured publicity posters invaded the European resorts and capitals inviting people to the Pyrenees. Often the Pyrenees were advertised with female figures, modernity, comfort and a wealth of amenities: walks, gambling houses, spa centres, festivities. A century later the publicity for the Pyrenees has evolved and exploits the natural products, flora and fauna, but it also uses clichés: shepherds with berets, technology of ski lifts, etc. However the Pyrenees are never associated with pictures of the rural world. The men and the women who have preserved this natural area of Europe are ignored by the advertisements. This documentary proposes for the first time to interpret the scenes connected with these mountains.
