Mongolia, in the heart of Asia, is a vast country, five times the size of Italy. A land that has remained cut off from the rest of the world for centries. A fabulous and legendary land linked to the story of Gengis Khaan. A land where nomadism and sheep-rearing are still the chief activities on which the whole country depends as it has for a thousand years. Heirs of Tartars, who invaded and spread terror in half the world, today's nomads wear the same dress of Gengis Khaan's soldiers, live in the same customs and behave in the same way. However, the long standing customs and traditons that have closely linked the Mongolian to the steppes are nowadays in danger due to the effects of modernisation which are already leaving a deep mark.
