E' un film sull'Iran come geografia meravigliosa: sulla fine del millennio un piccolo gruppo di ricercatori sii avventura in un viaggio nel cuore del deserto centrale iraniano. Riattraversando la storia dei posti "mai visti", spiritualmente decisivi per la storia dell'Iran, il film fa percepire commoventi "lontananze remote". Lo stesso titolo va in questa direzione: significa "sul vento", "col vento", o. più letteralmente "lungo il vento", che per noi è meno lirico ma da più un'idea di percorso. Luoghi, città, caravanserragli...visti come vanno visti, ossia con scientificità, si potrebbe dire, "fiabesca". Tale "scientificità fiabesca" è un ossimoro pertinente in quanto esiste una rigorosità nella fiaba come esiste una rigorosità estetica nel campo del cinema. Ecco, l'estetica di questo film, vale a dire il suo linguaggio "fuori forma", riflette questa rigorosità: l'infrazione della norma nella coscienza del linguaggio.

Was born in Teheran in 1937 where he began writing film critiques and articles for the monthly magazine Setareh Cinema. He studied architecture for three years in Vienna before graduating from the Film School of the State Academy of Music and Performing Arts and School of Film and Television. He was also one of the founders of the College of Mass Comunications where he chaired the Department of Cinematogrphy and Photography for five years. From 1984 to 1988 he served as Programmm Associate of the Audio Visual Services in Columbia University, New York. He has written and directed more than 70 documentary and educational films for Iranian Television, Iranian National Oil Company and Ministry of Culture and Arts. Many of these have been awarded in various international film festivals including Teheran, Vienna, Moscow and Trento.
