Seen from the blackness of outer space, ‘Earth” is clearly a misnomer for our planet. With seventy percent of its surface covered by water, the Earth, viewed from afar, is a distinctive sparkling turquoise colour. Water, and the oceans in particular, make it unique. The oceans are the cradle of life, the engines that govern our climate, the repository of a vast and diverse wildlife. Flora and fauna are an integral part of our lives and their protection and preservation are our greatest challenge. Yet despite the fact that the sea constitutes two-third of our planet. We know more about the surface of moon than we do about depths of the oceans. Now, for the first time, it is possible to explore the last frontier of our planet, the oceans and the infinite variety of life forms thriving within them. This film reveals the marvels of the sea and its communities at their most enchanting and alluring.
