Fifth episode of the series “Sur le fil du rasoir” dedicated to alpine rescue in Switzerland. The film documents the training candidates have to go through to become mountain guides, a difficult and often thankless profession. Thery are not looking for glory, money or fame, but they are ready to dedicate body and mind to their task. Some sixty candidates begin this adventure; only haft of them will complete the course. We follow Didieter, Cyril and Yann and, surprisinly, in this predominantly male world, we find two women, Isabelle and Servine. The character and preparation of the students is constantly put to the test by the specialists; at over 4.000 metres mistakes can be fatal. The final exam is hard; only about thirty candidates manage to reach the end of the course and will be qualified to accompany clients in the mountains.
