Di nuovo su questa fantastica montagna, la quinta volta e già la seconda in due anni per Alessandro. Di nuovo qua per seguire una linea entrata nella storia dell’alpinismo, definita da Lionel Terray la salita più importante della storia dell’alpinismo, quella fatta da Maestri ed Egger 47 anni fa. La salita che fece la storia e che a tutt’oggi viene messa in dubbio. Dopo cinque tentativi, uno dei quali ci ha permesso di salire circa 900, di nuovo ci infiliamo su quella linea. Quella linea che Maestri ha detto di aver seguito con Tony Egger per raggiungere la vetta del Cerro Torre nel 1959. I miei compagni sono giovani e molto forti. Rolando Garibotti, italo-argentino ed il mio compaesano Alessandro Beltrami. Con una nostra tecnica particolare ed i pesi ridotti al minimo, riusciamo così ad aprire la nuova via in due giorni.

Ermanno Salvaterra is an alpine guide and a skiing instructor. His name is associated with some of the most beautiful ascents of the Patagonia Mountains such as the third repetition of the Maestri route on Cerro Torre and the first winter ascent of the same route in 1985. During these feats he began, as an amateur, to shoot and become familiar with the camera. After his first short made for Jonathan at Cerro Torre, he shot a second in 1985, Magico Est, about the expedition to the Paine Towers. In 1992 he directed Blu Patagonia, a report on the chain of events of Cerro Standhard and Punta Herron. Among his films we should recall: Fuiste alpiste…è andata così (1995), Infinito Sud (1996) and Cerro Torre, el Arca del los Vientos (2006), which participated in the 54th Trentofilmfestival.
