The life of Guido Rossa, a worker of Italsider in Cornigliano and one of the most resourceful mountaineers in post-war Italy, unravels between 1963, the year of the unlucky expedition of the Uget Italian Alpine Club of Turin to the Himalayas, and 1979, the year of his tragic death. His life is interrupted by a “fire group” of the Red Brigades, when the political fight became more and more cruel and forced him to side with the Red Brigades, leaving the “smooth and barren walls” and abandoning the legendary, purifying mountain. The film is the result of long research work in the public and private archives, of the images and the words saved and retrieved. It is an account of the emblematic life of a forerunner of transgression on the mountains, a man who was also a brave hero during one of the darkest periods of contemporary Italy.
