This video is a mountain tale set in a place that more than others was able to recover from the wreckage of the First World War. In the message whispered by Francesco e Angelina, together with the Lagorai mountain shepherds, there is the plea of a whole territory of extraordinary beauty: its right to exist in a desired and necessary balance. The protagonist of the video is the Valpiana mountain hut, situated in Val Calamento and its mountain shepherd (the “malghese”), a man able to produce excellent cheeses, but also a man who knows and cares for all aspects of his mountains: their springs, creeks, pastures, the bugs’ buzzing world, the animals, the wood, the paths, the territorial architectures. The video, conceived as a further way of understanding the relationship among cultural roots, awareness of the ecologic balance, and economic values, can be interpreted in different ways, last but not least by considering the worrying contrast between what is authentic traditional culture and what has resulted from the absurd laws for the re-qualification of work structures and tools.
