After being in jail for some days for offending a mullah, Yolan, a tailor of Turkish origin, flees Iran to go to Turkey and discover his ancestors’ country. He is accompanied by Ozal, a boy to whom he gave a home. The film shows the journey of these two characters across the Eastern Anatolian mountains. Yolan’s research is soon revealed as unsuccessful: the village seems to have disappeared. The two men trust to luck. They travel from village to village, but lose themselves and no longer know what they are looking for. They meet all kinds of people on their way with whom they share a few moments before continuing their trip. After a long journey they bump into a fortune-teller and question her about their own destiny: “A path into darkness is leading them to the sea. There, on a beach, some Armenians are dancing to the sound of bagpipes. A ship is waiting. Fascinated by the music, Yolan starts to dance wildly…”
