An inexperienced but eager biologist of the Environment Protection Service is sent on a mission to the woods of the Pyrenees to monitor the displacement of a large female bear. The plantigrad is making life difficult for the local people, approaching their houses and slaughtering their sheep. The young researcher is welcomed with caution by the community, but is obliged to ask for help in order to find the animal. He will find himself in conflict with both the hunters who go with him to find and kill the bear, and with his own ideals.
