Village Breznitsa is located at the foothills of Pirin mountain, SW Bulgaria. The inhabitants are Pomak, Bulgarian speaking Muslims converted to Islam three centuries ago. They consider themselves to be Turks from the ancient city of Konya in Anatolia. Applying a strategy of withdrawal and tacit resistance, they managed to survive the constraints of communism. With the advent of democracy in 1989 a variety of new ideological pressures began to be felt in the village. This film is a statement about the ideological confusion prevailing among Balkan Muslims today.
