An unusual journey to the Murgia highlands in the Bari region in South Italy with Pino Malerba, a genuine and bizarre driver, with Anna Rispoli’s sensual and ironic voice. The Murgia is not only a karst highland with steppe-like vegetation, but also a land which underwent various changes over the centuries due to the different authorities and regimes. In this episode Cosimo Terlizzi deals with the topic of water from its rural use to its natural course. "With an attentive look at the relationship between culture and cultivation, geomorphology and anthropology, but in a pop aesthetics style, the documentary film deals with the beauty of stones and the throngs characterising the Murgia land; with the animals that have perfectly adapted to the environment made hostile by man. The Murgia land is unique in its genre. The deforestation perpetuated for years has turned the landscape into a wasteland that we erroneously consider poor, therefore to be reforested or exploited in any possible way. On the contrary, the Murgia keeps on living with its low and resistant plants and pioneers of existence, the so called Meditterranean steppe; a world made of small living creatures resisting extinction."
