SS26 is the story of the last fifteen years of Alberto Gnerro’s life, spent in climbing and searching for the extreme difficulty in an ideal trip along the state road 26, which passes through the Valle d’Aosta. This road leads Gnerro to the discovery of beautiful and sometimes hidden places in which he prepares the equipment and then climbs extremely demanding walls, sometimes reaching a difficulty of 9A. In the film, the director tells of Gnerro’s private and personal life, his continuous search to find himself and his motivation: from being a pure and selfish athlete to becoming a thoughtful partner and father of a little girl. The meaning of SS26 lies in the continuous walk along the path of personal challenge which is almost a necessity that is in all of us, along with the hope that one day we will be able to find peace.
