It is no coincidence that Morra tucks itself away high in the mountains or shelters itself from the sea on islands. It needs a place where time flows at a different pace to time on the plains or in cities. The director discovered Morra at a village festival. This game, as old as history itself, burst into life before his eyes. Its players’ expressions, the rhythm of their fists and their competitive fervour turn a game into a magnificent ritual. This film is a journey across Corsica, Friuli, Nice and Trentino, through a vortex of the dialects and languages that accompany this game of cursing, loyalty and ritual magic. It is a quest for a part of us; we call it “wild”, but it is really just “human”.
