A young father and his 8-year-old son are walking in the mountains. Their route, nights in a tent and life in the open-air become a chance for them talk and to become closer. We learn of their relationship with the family, love, the city the father has left behind and their natural surroundings. Childhood and the desire to learn and to grow up come face-to-face with the worries of adult life. As they continue their walk, nature increasingly makes its presence felt; father and son also have to deal with past events, as well as the present, which dumps them unceremoniously before the current goings-on in the city down on the plain: the occupation of a Milan factory and the misadventures of a 1970s music producer.
